Press Release: Veteran Action Supports Hung Cao’s Nomination as Secretary of the Navy

Cao has a remarkable American story. His family escaped Saigon before the city fell to the Communists. He was four years old. Cao says America gave him a new life in the most generous country on earth. He spent his career paying it back.

Cao enlisted as a seaman recruit and earned his commission at the Naval Academy. He served in special operations for 25 years as a qualified Navy special operations officer, explosive ordnance disposal officer, parachutist, and diver. Deployments took him to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia. He retired a captain.

"Hung Cao has lived the American Dream, and his profound love of country and his leadership make him an incredible choice for Secretary of the Navy," Veteran Action founder Mark Lucas says. "We will put all our grassroots muscle behind his confirmation."

Veteran Action has a record in consequential nominations. At Americans for Prosperity, Lucas oversaw a grassroots network that drove more than 2 million citizen contacts for Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. At the Article III Project, he led the campaign that generated 60,000 volunteers and 250,000 contacts for Pete Hegseth. Veteran Action, which he founded and leads, recruited more than 1,100 volunteers who contacted their lawmakers 4,600 times in support of Sam Brown, Matt Lohmeier, and Elbridge Colby.

The Senate should confirm Cao without delay.
