WarRoom: Hegseth Orders Military Voting Stand-Down Day
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth orders commanders to hold a military voting stand-down day no later than October 15. Servicemembers, spouses and dependents get on-duty time to register and request absentee ballots.
Veteran Action Founder and President Mark Lucas joins Steve Bannon on WarRoom to explain the order. Lucas and Hegseth served together in the 34th Infantry Division. Both were voting assistance officers.
"If anybody's voice should be heard, it is that of the men and women who are willing to die for this country," Lucas says.
Hegseth acts as the presidential designee under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act. Stand-down days have precedent: units pause training for vehicle safety and suicide prevention, and the Biden Pentagon paused it for extremism training.
