Press Release: Veteran Action Calls on Democrats to Pass Clean Continuing Resolution as Government Shutdown Harms Military Families and Threatens National Security

Veteran Action today urged Congressional Democrats to immediately pass a clean continuing resolution to fund the federal government and prevent devastating impacts on active-duty military personnel, National Guard members, and veterans across the country.

"Democrats are holding military families and veterans hostage over partisan politics," said Mark Lucas, Founder & President of Veteran Action. "Democrats shut down the government to provide healthcare for illegal immigrants. Our servicemembers already face a demanding mission. Now they have to worry about paying their bills and feeding their families."

During a government shutdown, all active-duty military personnel and currently deployed National Guard members must continue performing their duties without pay until the shutdown ends.

Veteran Action will hold Congressional Democrats responsible for the shutdown in the 2026 midterm elections.
